More and More USA Museums Accepting Bitcoin Payments
New cultural trend
All my latest articles were devoted to the cryptocurrency analysis and statistics. That’s why today I’d like to present you some interesting information from ‘outta world’. It’s not a secret that today we can buy more and more things with cryptos. More and more companies are accepting Bitcoin as payment. But what about art?
I was really surprised to know that one more museum started to accept Bitcoin payments recently.
Museums Accepting Bitcoin Payments
All in all, there are 3 museums in the USA accepting Bitcoin payments. The previous 2 were Museum of the Coastal Bend in Texas (accepting Bitcoin since 2013) and St. Petersburg Museum of History in Florida (accepting Bitcoin since 2014).
As CNN reports, it all started as an experiment. The spokesperson of Museum of the Coastal Bend said:
“I have to admit, I’m skeptical that anyone will visit and use BTC. But it doesn’t cost us anything to try, and it’s pretty cool to say that we’re the first. Also, admission is pay-what-you-want, in case anyone was wondering how many of their hard-earned BTC they would need to spend here.”
The third museum accepting Bitcoin as payment became the Great Lakes Science Center in downtown Cleveland, Ohio. It’s clearly known that it was the upcoming Blockland Solutions Conference (1–4 December, 2018) which inspired the Science Center to accept Bitcoin as payment. While enlarging the local Blockchain ecosystem, the Great Lakes Science Center President and CEO Kirsten Ellenbogen commented:
“There is a lot of excitement around the conference. Accepting Bitcoin is just a small part of the momentum to grow a blockchain ecosystem in Cleveland.”
And finally, Crains Cleveland reported that this innovation was supposed to start on November 13, 2018.
Where Science and Technology Meets
I think that there are only two things in the world that continue to develop no matter what. Here they are: Science and Technology. When they come together, they can easily fascinate a person.
Last year, for example, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Great Lakes Science Center launched a mobile app that “leverages augmented and virtual reality” and allowed guests to play with flames in space and create spacecraft designs. Doesn’t it sound awesome?
According to Ellenbogen, this VR function will allow visitors to gain better experience, study, and evaluate the work NASA is leading.
It also makes clear that accepting Bitcoin as entrance fee perfectly matters with the museum’s goals as the Science Center support progress in the STEM fields. From now on, visitors can participate in the cryptocurrency and blockchain industry by using their phone and pay for their entrance with BTC.
A New Popular Crypto-Trend
The co-operation of museums and cryptocurrencies (especially Bitcoin) has become a new trend in the global market. This integration of accepting Bitcoin as payment does not cost a penny for the merchants while it has everything to become an efficient way of targeting consumers in the cryptocurrency market.
As a result, different museums and art objects are accepting Bitcoin, while traders or just cryptocurrency holders gain new knowledge. And finally, we can see that it turned out to be one of the greatest innovations in sending culture into masses.
